5 Fast Food Meals of Death

As a lawyer time is rarely on your side. Deadlines loom and clients want an answer yesterday. The only case they can think of is theirs so they assume it is what you must be toiling over now. Additionally, legal work is often hourly work. A leisurely lunch is not possible. You don’t have an hour for lunch or the time to prepare a healthy meal before leaving for work. Fast food may be your only choice.

Contrary to popular opinion, fast food restaurants offer low-calorie and often healthy options. They do this to appease the press and a growing list of protestors. But ask anyone who works at a fast food restaurant, those foods go uneaten. We order junk food at fast food joints. But even within the array of high-calorie, low-nutrition options, a few stand out as particularly egregious.

Here is a list of meals from five of the most popular fast food restaurants that exceed 1,500 calories. To place it into some perspective, 1,500 calories are more than the daily needs of a semi-active 120 pound woman and is well over 60% of the daily calories needed by a 175 pound man. Eating these meals will lead to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease and premature death. No one wants premature death.

Fast food deserves its reputation for serving high calorie foods. We deserve blame for continuing to order it. But fast food does not have to mean a fast track to the morgue. Avoid the meals of death and order something that will satisfy your needs without exceeding your daily energy requirement in one meal.
